YouTube Star and Veteran Franchisee Join Forces to Purchase 16 Handles Ice Cream Brand

The new owners will expand the business beyond the tri-state area through franchising.

16 Handles, a New York-based ice cream chain, has been sold to its largest franchisee, Neil Hershman, and YouTube sensation Danny Duncan. The 30-plus unit ice cream franchise is slated to expand beyond the tri-state area under new ownership to become a nationwide phenomenon.

"It's important for me to invest in a company that has a great product, but also a company that brings people happiness," Duncan told QSR Magazine. "I recognized 16 Handles' success in New York City and knew if it could succeed there, it could succeed anywhere. I'm excited to open my own 16 Handles in my hometown of Englewood, Florida, and to help lead franchise expansion throughout the U.S."

Duncan is a comedy YouTuber who has amassed over 1.5 billion views and over $50 million in merchandise sales. He will take on the role of 16 Handles’ chief creative officer.

Hershman owns various dessert franchises nationwide and will take on the role of 16 Handles' CEO.

"16 Handles is a beloved brand in the New York region, and there is so much potential for it to dominate in countless other markets across the country,” said Hershman. “Our leadership team has experience owning and operating our store locations, which gives us unparalleled insight into our products, business model and customers.”
