Atomic Wings, a New York-based chicken wing franchise known for its all-natural, hormone-free wings and 14 proprietary flavors, is expanding its presence into Indiana, according to a recent article in QSR Magazine

The first location, set to open in Greenfield at 1665 N State Street, is spearheaded by Mike Harmon, a seasoned restaurateur and established franchisee in Indiana. Harmon, who currently owns six Firehouse Subs units, has committed to opening up to ten Atomic Wings locations in Indiana, expressing his enthusiasm for the brand and potential for further expansion.

The upcoming Greenfield location, projected to open in Spring 2024, will be notable for being the largest in the Atomic Wings network, covering 1,890 square feet. This new outlet will also debut Atomic Wings' updated design, which includes a fresh look with a new logo, lighting, seating and a dedicated station for pickup orders. This redesign, a collaborative effort with a leading industry firm, reflects the growing demand for third-party delivery services.

“I’m very excited to be branching out with a superior wing brand like Atomic Wings, and introducing my home state to the brand I fell in love with,” said Harmon. “Our agreement has a minimum of ten units, but I think we can add up to 20.”

Zak Omar, CEO of Atomic Wings, highlights Harmon's unique role in the network. “He’s a very experienced operator who already owns six Firehouse Subs in Indiana, knows how to market his locations and has top locations in the network,” said Omar. “His experience lends itself well to introducing Indiana to Atomic Wings, and I am confident that in the years to come, we’ll see Atomic Wings growing throughout the state in a significant way.”

As of 2023, Atomic Wings is nearing a significant milestone with over 100 units signed, 16 operational and an additional 10 under construction. The brand's expansion strategy includes entry into several states such as Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Texas and others, with flagship locations in each to stimulate growth.

“We pride ourselves on getting everything right with our wings, from the nitty-gritty details in our ingredients to the overall big picture of our customer-service process,” Omar said. “While this a big milestone for the brand, we know expansion shouldn’t mean that we forfeit our customer value, and our franchisees are all committed to that vision. We are excited to work with Harmon further to bring that authentic Buffalo wing taste to the people of Greenfield and across the country.”
